Senator John Flanagan

Guest speaker at the Kings Park Chamber of Commerce

Senator John Flanagan, the guest speaker at the Kings Park Chamber of Commerce monthly luncheon meeting on Thursday January 18th, briefed the audience on  the new state government administration and covered the transfer of the Kings Park Psychiatric Center properties as a state park. Of primary importance in his talk was his commitment to the community to assure us that the new addition of all of  the Kings Park Psychiatric center properties added to the Nissequogue River State park will be a State Park and nothing else. This was in response to the Newday article(see below)  covering the intent of the new administration to revisit the establishing of the park  He stated that any development to the park land will be development related to park activities. The senator was adamant that no commercial development would be allowed.  He also mentioned the necessity , more so now, for the community and the Town to be involved heavily in the park development. The Kings Park Civic Association will definitely participate.
